"Compassion" - Moments
in War, 200 mm scale (1/9) resin kit
sculpted by Mark Ricketts. This piece represents an actual scene from
history, where a WW2, American Infantry Lieutenant is shown comforting one
of his young soldiers; who has just seen his best friend killed in action.
More info below:"Compassion" aims to reveal to the viewer how even the
strongest and most courageous of people can need solace and kindness during
times of high conflict. It demonstrates that the common stereotype of
the hardened soldier, during a time of war, is misleading and that a warrior
can show the deepest care for his brothers-in-arms.
When the original photo that inspired this vignette was printed in the
media during World War II, it contained a caption that read "While enemies
go to heaven, I stay in hell".
Here's a photo
taken from the cover of Military Modeling magazine depicting this kit in
painted version. This version of the popular magazine depicts an
article about painting this kit by Rob Henden.
