Urban Debris
Directions -
Anyone
who has ever seen WWII film footage or even casually browsed in any book
on the subject is aware of the massive destructive power of artillery and
aerial bombardment. By 1945 many towns in Europe were scarred
and in some cases almost totally destroyed. This is often
the stage used by military modelers to display their models or the subject
of dioramas, and is not limited to WWII. Fighting has occurred
in and around urban settings for hundreds of years. Although
there are now many excellent models from several manufacturers for damaged
building corners and facades, few of them include detailing for the debris
that naturally comes with the destruction of a building. Hudson
& Allen’s URBAN DEBRIS was designed with just this in mind.
Included
in our product is a section of molded details that you can use in any
existing kit that you are detailing. It has been molded of
lightweight urethane foam that can be easily cut and modified with a hobby
knife. You may also wish to paint in more details to blend our
product with the kit you are using. We recommend the use of
water based hobby paints for coloring and “white glue” to affix the
foam details.
The
second component of our kit is a bag of typical debris that can simply be
“dumped” on and around the foam molding. Our mix includes
powdered glue as one of our components, so once you have it arranged, you
may affix it by spraying with a solution of warm water mixed with a few
drops of liquid detergent to help it penetrate. If you later
feel it needs additional adhesive, you may use a mixture of “white
glue”, soap and water applied with an eyedropper. This
product was designed to use with other Hudson & Allen products such
