St. Petersburg, Russia has been known for many years as a center of some of the world's finest sculptors and painters of military miniatures.  We have contracted with some of these artists to create  exquisitely sculpted figures of the Civil War.

Brief History of the 1st Texas:

Our new Antietam series features the First Texas Brigade at the Battle of Antietam in September of 1862.  Our first vignette in this series features one of the fallen color bearers from this battle.  As the battle honors attest (we had the flag painted with 100% historical accuracy for our box art), the 1st Texas fought under this flag throughout the Peninsula Campaign.  During the desperate Battle of Antietam, in Miller's cornfield, the 1st Texas suffered 82.3 percent casualties -- the highest endured by any unit North or South during the entire war. In the course of the battle, nine brave Texas standard bearers fell carrying this flag.

Special features of our new Optimum Series:

bullet

all figures cast in lead free pewter (white metal castings)

bullet

the heads and arms must be glued on to the figure's torsos.  This makes great conversion opportunities for each figure.

bullet

most hats (kepis and slouch) contain the Texas star as worn by this famous brigade.  The stars can easily be filed away so that figures can be used to represent many other Confederate brigades with figures wearing the commonly issued longer Confederate frock coats.

bullet

figures very compatible with other lines such as Shenandoah, Wolf, Des Kit, our own Cromwell series, etc.

bullet

mix and match heads from other lines to add variety

bullet

infantry figures carrying the 1841 Mississippi rifle, standard issue in the beginning of the war for this brigade (and used by many other brigades)
